Remembering Kristallnacht: Reflections on Modern Conflicts
As we observe the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass,” our hearts are heavy with the memory of the violence and hatred that took place during that dark chapter of history. This event serves as a somber reminder of the devastating consequences of unchecked bigotry.
Kristallnacht, which occurred on November 9-10, 1938, saw the widespread destruction of Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues, and homes, along with the arrest and persecution of countless Jewish individuals. The parallels to the suffering endured during the Holocaust are evident, and we must never forget the lessons of this tragic period.
Today, we also see conflicts that continue to affect innocent lives, such as the recent slaughter of our Jewish brethren in Israel. While the circumstances may differ, we are reminded of the importance of standing up in our communities against this evil.
In remembrance and hope,
